Join a local family in Cairo for a home-cooked Egyptian meal you prepare yourself. Your host was born and raised in Cairo, and cooking is their hobby. Together you shop, cook and eat real, authentic food, the way Egyptian families do at home.
What we will do
- Market visit: a short walk to a local farmers’ market to pick fresh produce. You will learn how to spot the best ingredients.
- Prep and history: back in the kitchen, we prepare the ingredients together while hearing the story of the dish and what makes it special in Egyptian cuisine.
- Cooking class: step by step through the cooking, with a focus on basic Egyptian techniques and serving styles.
- Eat together: sit down with the family to enjoy the meal you made, with plenty of stories and conversation.
Who it is for
No cooking experience is needed. It is a great activity for couples, families and solo travellers who want to see everyday life in Egypt beyond the monuments. Let us know about allergies or vegetarian preferences when you book.
Combine it with
Spend the morning at the Giza Pyramids and Egyptian Museum, or relax on a felucca ride on the Nile with a home-made lunch.
