Enjoy a relaxed felucca ride on the Nile in Cairo with a home-cooked oriental lunch on board. Our guide picks you up from your hotel at 3 pm and takes you to the pier, where you meet the rayes (that is what we call the captain in Arabic) and set sail for two hours on a traditional wooden sailboat.
What you will eat
Lunch is prepared at home by our host Nada and served while you sail: mahshy (stuffed vegetables), rice, kobeiba shami, salad, grilled chicken and sambousek, with soft drinks and water. It is a simple, authentic Egyptian meal, the kind families share at home.
Why take a felucca ride on the Nile
- See Cairo from the river, away from the traffic, as the afternoon light changes over the city.
- Sail on a felucca, the boat Egyptians have used on the Nile for centuries.
- Meet local people and taste real home cooking rather than restaurant food.
